What to learn and practise before you go. Each resource is marked Official or Community-accepted and names its publisher. Difficulty and prep time are our estimate.
Robot building and programming for one league's rules
Also useful:
- Teamwork across mechanics, electronics and software
- Competition prep: testing on a regulation field and debugging on site
Difficulty and prep time are Curiosta editorial estimates for a first-timer, not organiser figures.
Refresher
- Pick a league first: soccer, rescue, @Home, industrial, or RoboCupJunior for students up to 19.
- Each league publishes its own rules and qualification process.
- RoboCupJunior's beginner guide is the easiest way in for school teams.
- Visitors don't need a team: in 2027 the public visitor days are 17–20 Jun.
Practise before you go
- Build a small robot for a RoboCupJunior challenge (soccer, rescue line or maze).
- Enter a regional or national RoboCup event before aiming at the world championship.
- Read the league rules for your target year.
Safety notes
- Batteries: charge and store lithium packs as your league's rules require.
- Moving robots: keep hands clear during tests.
